Stuff that's tricky to do with a camera

Do you understand your camera?
I like to imagine that I do, but my camera's pretty confusing, too.
All you need to understand is shutter speed, aperture and film speed, but with all the things to shoot and ways these interact, it can be pretty tricky!
Have you ever tried to do a photo project from the internet? I've done a bunch, developing film in coffee, for instance, that's pretty easy. Long exposures with flash stencils mirages? I do okay at that, but there's a trick to it, there's certain things you have to understand to do it. We can learn together.
Come by with any concern, or try to learn how to do specific things with long exposures, which will be my focus for the summer. You do need something like an SLR to do long exposures, but I may be able to provide these if I am told of a need in advance.
Look at these fish. If you do crafts or visual art and want to know something about photography, then I have fun experiments you may appreciate.

We will have weekly classes in July and August, not including July 4th.
Mondays are field days, where we shoot and Fridays we will have an open studio for those interested in editing their photos or learning about editing or even developing film!
Open studios are Fridays, starting at 7p, and you can stay as late as 10.
You don't have to attend all the open studios or all of the field sessions! We will try to keep in touch so that we know what materials to have and whether or not to wait up for you before we take off on ADVENTURES.

8/8/2011's Stuff That's Tricky To Do w/a Camera Class!
Tonight I have the community room of the 5th Precinct Police Dept. booked from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evening. That's right! The cool, comfortable convenience of the 5th precinct's awesome and beautiful community room right there on 31st St. and Nicollet Ave. how cool is that?! I need to know if those of you planning on attending eat meat and or dairy as I plan on providing some food and drink.
The plan:
1. go over the process of scanning and processing photos in Photoshop. Those of you already familiar with Photoshop could teach me a few things which would be really great and with a little luck we could all leave with a little more knowledge.
2. discuss uploading flix to web and we could make our own page on my site CitizenMinneapolis where we can make the url anything we want so it's pretty cool and simple AND will remain available to all to upload images too.
3. I have an outline for a conversation on the ethics of photography and a few questions to spur the conversation along if need be.
4. Also, if you all could be thinking of any stories you recall of taking picture that you'd like to share with the class would be great.
5. We'll probably have time for some peer review/constructive criticism of photographs so for those of you rocking film cameras, try to bring in some prints (developed photos) you'd like a little constructive criticism on we'll scan those and get em up on the projector.
So yeah, if you'd be so kind as to let me know if you think you'll be attending and whether you eat meat or dairy that would be much appreciated!
