Facilitator Support Committee, Meeting Wed, March 26th at 7:30
The Facilitator Support Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, February 26th at 7:30 pm in the Macalester Campus Center Rm. 206. It is open to current and past facilitators and EXCO students are also welcome. If you have a conflict with this time but are interested in contributing, please consider sending responses to the following questions or sending questions/items of discussion to mlarson@macalester.edu or post them to this forum!
This is a draft agenda for the meeting:
1. Introductions and overview of EXCO Visioning Session
2. What are the biggest challenges for EXCO teachers/facilitators?
3. How can the facilitator committee support teachers/facilitators in the most sustainable way? (website resources, community events, etc)
4. What is the most sustainable structure for the committee? How should it interact with the organizing team? (rotating representatives, volunteer organizers, on-going meetings, periodic meetings)
5. Schedule meeting time to plan summer facilitator forum.

Meeting notes
1. Challenges teachers face:
-communication between teachers and organizers
-organizing space, making it accessible, getting appropriate spaces for each class
-pedagogy resources
2. Pedagogy Support: Teachers supporting teachers
-have website resources including: an only forum, pedagogy resources, past lessons
-in-person meetings
-monthly meetings that include
-pedagogy workshops (tech resources, anti-racism) and
-teacher discussions broken into groups based on topics
3. Student Participation
-How do teachers get committed students?
-How many teachers have dwindling numbers vs. erratic assistance? Miriam will look into this – maybe this could be part of an evaluation
-should we consider charging students? Perhaps we create a deposit that is reimbursed at the end of the class.
