tiny green house construction
hi friends!
I am currently (very seriously) playing with the idea of constructing an off the grid tiny house next summer/fall. I have been spending this summer researching these little spaces and what it takes to live green (solar panels, rainwater catches, low VOC paints, energy star appliances, composting toilets,etc.). However, there is still so much I don't know, and probably wont until it really comes down to putting everything together.
I think building this house could be a really interesting class that involves hands-on work, communication, and research/open discussion about sustainable housing. I could try to find people that could come in and discuss different aspects of the house, and then we could proceed to work on it. Just an idea that is floating around in my head right now, let me know what you think.

The original poster hasn't replied to this but the rest of us seem pretty interested. I think it would be really cool to do something in green design be it the Tiny House or strawbale construction or something like that. I too would like this class. I have also been looking (dreaming) of a Tumbleweed Tiny House. I have some house construction skills that are a bit out dated but I'm game

I like this idea a lot and would like to be involved as well. Unfortunately I don't have all that many construction skill, but I would still like to help if possible.

I'd be very interested in taking this class or helping facilitate. I'm an architecture student at the U and I'm very interested in green building. I'm assuming you've heard of the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. This guy makes really tiny homes using all sorts of green techniques and publishes the plans. Making one of those would be a great way to demonstrate these things. I love the idea. Feel free to contact me with what you're thinking.

I think the idea is superb. Even though few people join the project, other can learn a tremendous lot by only following the proceedings.

I’ve designed several tiny houses myself and would be happy to share them with you if you could break them down into walls/floors/etc for folks to have access to build their own tiny homes. Let me know if you are interested! I’d really love to see a 8×16 passive solar low cost home, also for anyone interested in solar options for their tiny home feel free to contact me. I’d love to help out the tiny house movement in anyway possible. I will be starting a blog on my own tiny home as soon as construction commences!
