Scheduling dates, days of week, locations

5 replies [Last post]

I've submitted 2 proposals for Summer '09. One I want to do in the first part of Summer, and the other in the second part.

Because of several reasons, I left the exact date/day of week/location parts vague and non-specific.

I don't have a location yet. I'll need help finding one, and the ones I suggested are probably too small, as I now see it. Without having a location and knowing the schedule there, I can't give specific dates, day of week, or locations

I used the "Until enough sign-up" option in my proposals.

So what's the deal? How do I get that stuff out there until I get preliminary stuff re: locations from which I can determine dates, days of week, etc? My first course is an overview of health systems and I now recognize that almost certainly more people will want to take it than I envisioned.

Can anyone advise me?

I met a man online (drop dead gorgeous) in April he pursued me, called me, etc. However due to our schedules (his and mine) we were unable to set a date to meet each other until the end of August. He would always call me at the last minute and ask to get together the next day. I always had plans asdiamond earrings I am a duty dating girl =). So he would disappear and reappear each time asking the same and I would say the same. So this time (3rd time) when he called I told him I had a busy week and next week would be better, we set a date met for dinner, had a great time. At the end of our first date he asked me out again during dinner and I said I would really like to. He did not ask for my schedule or when I was available during that conversation or set a day......so I thought maybe he was just all talkwedding bands, thinking if a man is serious enough he will call again. Five days passed and (when he saw my online profile update with new pictures) he sent me a message (email) asking me what happened? When I replied later.....I asked him what he meant and he said that he text me and also called me with no response. I said that I did not receive them. (I can assure you he did not call or text me, ha). We emailed back and forth a few times and he asked me for another date (one was a hang out date which I replied as Flechelles book states no hang out dates and he was supriesed but agreed to meet publically) which I told him I was available the following week. He said great and he would call me this past weekend (yes over Labor Day weekend) to confirm up our plans for the following Tuesday. He did keep asking me if I was available that weekend and also made some comment about the days I was available like are you married. I actually went out of town but did not disclose that as it was none of his business. I did not hear from him over the weekend and he never called the day of our date to confirm, basically standing me up.

choose a time and date

My general suggestion - choose a time and date in advance of the class, and stick with it. I think people need to know for sure that a class will be at said location in order to make a mental commitment to themselves to come. It's impossible to please everybody, and it will just drive you nuts trying to fit everybody's schedule. If you think the class will have interest, find a place (it's hard, but there are some great community centers/resources out there...and the EXCO folks can often help you find a location) and see how it works out. If it becomes OBVIOUS that people want to come but can't make that time/place, consider changing it - but start with something solid and work from that.

In the bike classes I teach, the recent 4-week session had by far the lowest attendance of any sessions i've taught, i think because I changed the class schedule twice (both times pushing it back because of unexpected things in my schedule). In the future i will make sure i dont change the class schedule unless absolutely necessary.

agree/disagree

i agree with jason if you are for sure wanting to facilitate this summer. however, if you are unsure there will be enough interest you can have it be potential until enough people sign up--say 50+ such that you can then launch the class and be confident that there will be sufficient interest.

best,
